Claiming Compensation
Claiming Compensation
If your rights have been broken under UK Law, and your dispute did not work the way it was intended to, you have the right to sue for compensation.
Claiming Compensation
Suing for compensation is not the same as going to court to get back what you’re owed. Compensation is an amount to make up for the loss that you’ve suffered because of the dispute or incident you’ve been involved in.
You may want to claim compensation for personal injury caused by the negligence of an employer, by someone who caused an accident, or by someone who attacked you in the street. You can sue a health authority for compensation for medical negligence or because you’ve been discriminated against.
Claiming Compensation – These cases can be very complicated, and the amounts involved vary according to the amount of loss you’ve suffered. The loss may be financial as in the loss of earnings, but that loss may also include an amount for loss of enjoyment, for example, if you’ve had problems in your hotel on holiday.
Claiming Compensation – In addition, you can add in compensation for pain and suffering and for some of which may be emotional, rather than physical, than the pain and suffering.
Claiming Compensation – If you’re going to claim for compensation, you need a solicitor who can assess the kind of figure you should be suing for and how much each of the elements of the claim may amount to. The court procedures for these kinds of claims are much more formal and protracted.
Claiming Compensation – These cases can go on for weeks while the courts decide whether an employer has been guilty of discrimination and how much money should be awarded to the claimant.
