The list of motoring offences is long. In this category, we will just deal with the driving of the vehicle. Just to give you an idea of how many ways you can break the law, here’s a list of some of the most common driving offences.

It’s by no means comprehensive, and some categories, such as speeding, include a number of more specific offences:
- Failing to stop at a pedestrian crossing
- Failing to comply with traffic light signals
- Failing to stop after an accident
- Driving without insurance
- Driving without a licence
- Failing to produce a driving licence
- Drink driving
- Speeding
- Illegal parking Careless driving (driving without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for other road users)
- Dangerous driving (if more than carelessness or bad driving are involved and there’s an obvious risk of danger, such as driving through red lights)
- Causing death by dangerous driving
- Taking a motor vehicle without consent (joyriding)
List of Motoring Offences – Using your handheld mobile phone while you’re driving, including while at traffic lights and in traffic jams, is an offence. You can use a hands-free phone, but you may still be prosecuted for not being in control of the vehicle or for careless or dangerous driving.
